Things To Do & Put-in-Bay Island Attractions

Exploring Put-in-Bay Ohio By Golf Cart

Just under an hour west of Cleveland, Ohio, lies one of the most unique destinations in the United States. Hop on the Miller Ferry from Port Clinton or the Jet Express from Sandusky, and after a scenic 20-minute ride across Lake Erie, you’ll arrive at South Bass Island, home to Put-in-Bay, Ohio! One of the first things you’ll notice is the abundance of golf carts sharing the roads with regular passenger vehicles. Renting a golf cart is the best way to experience everything that Put-in-Bay, the crown jewel of the Lake Erie Islands, has to offer.

Put-in-Bay Attractions For Everyone

Our small island is packed with incredible things to do. The first stop for most visitors should be our most prominent attraction, Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial, affectionately known as “the monument.” This massive Doric column, commemorating American, British, and Canadian soldiers who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, is the fifth tallest memorial structure in America and dominates the downtown Put-in-Bay landscape. Sightseeing from the observation deck is a must-do when visiting Put-in-Bay.

Next, we offer not one, but two must-see caves. Perry’s Cave takes you five stories below the surface, where you can view an amazing and rare underground lake, connected by an undiscovered channel to the surrounding waters of Lake Erie. Perry’s Cave Family Fun Center also features the Butterfly House, home to hundreds of unique butterfly species, Fort Amaze’n, and the Antique Car Museum. Right across the street, you’ll find Crystal Cave, the world’s largest geode!

Take flight with a helicopter or biplane ride from the Put-in-Bay Airport. We haven’t even mentioned all the amazing Put-in-Bay restaurants and bars yet. There’s a reason Put-in-Bay hotels are booked solid every summer weekend.
